It’s hard to describe or classify the work of Barcelona artist Coqué Azcona–and therein lies its charm. Coqué creates elegant, cartoonish compositions that consist primarily of swooshing lines and hand-drawn lettering, punctuated by some brilliant color contrasts. Each figure quickly dissolves as we are drawn into the bilingual collage of words and phrases it contains, and re-emerges as we assemble the scattered illustrative signposts–an eye, a moustache, a pair of squiggly legs. And then we try to decipher the meaning of it all. This is work that is both visually and conceptually alluring. Outstanding and creative stuff. I like such kind of work. Thanks for sharing
There is something very charming about this artist’s work. It is playful and sophisticated at the same time. The pink and white bird is lovely, as are some of the other monochromatic pieces. Her art is eyecatching and would be great as posters. The element of text in art is always such an amusing one.
